It ain't dark enough at my place by then to use the projector, and I'm pretty sure I don't all you 'tards in my bedroom to watch the race.

Plus, I want to fix Brian's laptop Sunday afternoon... and finish up during the rally if needed, so I should be over there as it is.

Petter is on an absolute streak! he is unbelievable right now..It's too bad we were dealt those DNF's early in the year...No problem though, He has nothing to be ashamed of, he's getting W's...

The new Citroen looks cool, I'm a huge fan of the Xsara though, so not real happy to see it go...However, I'm still very aprehensive about the new WRC rules for next year...Normal Aspiration, 2.0 liter max, and a different engine config that takes subaru out of the series. They have to work hard to redesign a motor in order to compete next year...stupid if you ask me...

The rules won't take effect till 2006, if passed. So, next year is secure. We'll have to wait and see what happens at the end of next season.

No doubt !!!! I was like NA???? No way.. I hope it's only engine mods and not BODY ..(Even though the "RUMORED" 2006-2007 redesigned WRC car will show it's face..)

I wonder if this will mean the end of the boxer engine on subaru street cars as well.

It would be hard to imagine them giving up all the history and development they have had with the HO configuration. No way!

I imagine Subaru would develop an inline-4 FWD compact for the home market, enough to get homologated, and run the spec drivetrain, if that's necessary. the rest of the lineup would probably continue on as it always has.

I really hope Subaru finds a way to keep the boxer motors. Maybe they can convince the FIA to allow boxer-4 as well as inline. Otherwise, I think Kevin is right. They'll do something to some new car homologated, but will hopefully keep the boxer layout for the street cars.

As Kevin said, its not really a ban on the motor configuration, its just that transmissions will be required to come from the same source. These transmissions, incidentially, need to mount up to transverse mounted inline 4 motors.

Citroen is also kinda pissed at the idea because they are developing a new WR Car with the current rules, and it won't debut till mid season in 2005, giving it a handful of rallies before the new rules kick in.

FIA has made some bad rule changes in the past, but the common source transmission is the worst ever.

Remember when they drop group B super cars super fast!! I still like Ford RS200. They all now in the Rallycross all over Europe. I saw them sometime in speed channel.

At least the FIA will really be lowering costs by requiring most the teams to completely redesign their motors to work with a spec tranny.

Here's what's really stupid: Homoligation is supposed to save the teams money because it forces factories to use parts that are shared with their production vehicles. By requiring spec parts, like a transmission, they are now requiring the factories to redesign their production car line up! That's friggen RETARDED. If you're going to require spec parts, then make it a spec series, and ditch the homoligation rules.

If I were Subaru, I certainly wouldn't design a new car at the cost of hundres of millions of dollars, and start a completely new marketing campaign for an inline-4 motor, after all the recent success of their boxer motor ads. FIA is going to kill WRC... I know they say WRC is going to die anyway, but by basically screwing Subaru out of the series, WRC has no hope of becoming popular in the US. Subaru is the flagship manufacturer here, and w/o them FIA can kiss hope of expansion to America goodby.

Agreed. I understand the intent behind FIA changing the rules, but I'm really questioning if this is the right approach to the problem of increasing costs. And as with all restrictive rules, it will end up costing about the same or more in the end due to the higher budget teams spending huge amounts of money to squeeze every last little drop of performance out of the restrictive ruleset. The N/A engines will probably end up looking like F1 engines.. teams will spin them to astronomical RPMs to get more power, and the required cost increases exponentially with RPMs & power.
