Here is the real ultralight battery... This is what all the national level STS drivers are using.

Yuasa YTZ7S or KOYO KTZ7-S 4.6 lbs. 6AH 130CCA. 4 7/16" x 2 3/4" x 4 1/8"

The KTZ7-s can be had for under $60 here.

That a motorcycle battery will turn over a car motor

It turns over a '89 Honda Civic Si which is the STS car of choice. A lower compression turbo motor should be easy for it...

I think I would need to dump a lot of things out of my car to run that!! car stereo and AC would be the first to go...

130 amps..........

I would consider a battery like that, only if I were trailering the car. As long as I'm driving to/from events, I'll stick to my heavy-ass Optima.

Actually, the battery doesn't run most stuff, the alternator does. The battery starts the car, and acts like a leveling capacitor for the alternator. Only if you draw more power than the alternator is generating at a given time does the battery kick in.

And that is 130CCA at 0degrees, or probably about 160 CA, or 200 HCA. More than enough to help out the alternator as needed.

The gotcha is really the 6AH. That means you can't have much power draw while the ignition is off. Also might be an issue with the headlights on at idle, especially with an underdrive pulley.

This battery is for hard core weight savings. There are 8 pound and larger options with 200+CCA, etc.

that battery will not on a regular basis operate a street driven car for any reasonable ammount of time.

period.

yay for blanket statements!

i run a much more expensive lightweight battery in my motorcycle. the yusua is just not worth the chance the bike wont start.

$160 for weight savings is just not worth it to me right now. I gotta worry about getting the damn thing tuned and aligned in the next 10 days so I make Seca.

I agree that this is for serious competition vehicles only, and said as much but more expensive does not equal beter.

Yuasa makes probably about 1/2 the world's small motorcycle/ATV/watercraft sized batteries sold under their name and many others. If they sucked, don't you think somebody would have noticed.

Braille may make good products, but that does not make this or any other product bad. Scott was nice and split this battery out of the Braille thread, please don't polute this thread with the equivelent of "BRAILLE RULZ" posts.

that is in fact EXACTLY what you are saying.

I know many companies that commit FRAUD on a regular basis. If they make these statements, and they are incorrect, its fraud.

You should start a class action and ill join and we can be rich.

delphi makes more than half of all the electronics in american cars, and yes, they SUCK, ASS.

I agree, im not trying to put down this item, as i have NO personal experience with anything other than their motorcycle batteries. Oh wait, thats exactly what this is.

This is for Parts reviews.

Do you have one of these? are you giving a review on it?

Perhaps this should be in subaru talk as something that you have seen and might be a good product to try. But it is clear that noone has one of these. If they do please chime in.

The 2 Yusua batteries i had in my possesion were crap. I noticed. The company didnt care, so i posted my opinion and review on it.

I originally tacked this battery on to the end of your Braille battery thread, but Scott rightly split it out. I never claimed to have one, and already asked Scott to move this thread to Tech or motorsports where it probably belongs.

Also, my point is that this is not a Braille thread. Also, are the Yuasa batteries you had YTZ series SLA, or their normal wet cells?

Why does almost everything you post have to be antagonistic?

You even boast about it with lines like "yay for blanket statements!"

I think you have some cool stuff, but that doesn't make everything else crap. there are a lot of people who can't afford for a $150 battery. That's a RFR test and tune day, a tire, or 7 days of autocross.
