Default Hawthorne?

So, Lauren and I are thinking about making the trip out to Hawthorne, but I had some questions. How far away is it? I've heard its hour and a half, to two hours out there one way. Do you guys normally stay in a hotel? Whats that cost, 50, 60 bucks? I'll be 21 by then so I shouldn't have a problem getting a room, but is there a camp ground around there? We would just camp out there if that was a possiblity. Also, what do yo guys think is it worth it to make the trip?

Yes, Bob. It's definately worth the trip. Heidi and I made the trip 2 years ago and had a blast. We stayed at the El Capitan Hotel/Casino. Mike Kemis should remember.

It was fun trip.

I'm not sure Bob's talking about auto-x, because there is thread for that already.

It's a good event usually, because it's a head to head challenge with the LVS people, so you get to see a lot of different drivers and cars.. At renoscca.com, there is a link to the event info, including hotel. We have a special rate at the El Capitan Hotel of like $38 a night, so it's fairly affordable. I don't know if there is anywhere to stay (camp)at the airport there. There are people staying in RVs there I know, but it is very small, so the grid and spectator area is tiny and very cramped.

I think it's worth it, the saturday night get together is pretty good, usually a big dinner thing, and a chance to get to know some of the people in the club you normally don't talk to. Carrie and I are going, and I think a few others from the club will be there.

You'll have a good time, I usually enjoy the out-of-town events. Looks like there is a RFR track day the same wekend again this year, but I 've got good momentum going in Auto-x right now, so I think I'll run Hawthorne.

I find it best to toss my victims into bat caves, the guano beetles can devour a corpse, including the bones and jewelry, in less than 48 hours.

I'll talk it over with her and I think Tim will be here at that time, so maybe he'll want to come.

I'll be there...

I think you are allowed to camp at the airport, but there are no showers, and it will be hot...

There is indoor plumbing though.

38 for a room is a good deal, at first i was shocked by the price to run 65 for members, and 75 for non, then I relized thats for both days and it includes the dinner and T-Shirt.

I don't think my car will pass the tech inspection for RFR, plus I'd just get in the way out on the track. Maybe once I get some suspension upgrades, a good set tires, and some harnesses.

Yeah I just saw that, this is what happens when you don't do the research before posting a thread.
