Default WRX Police car?

Do you know where the use WRXs as police cars? I am watching a show on the speed channel (chop, cut and rebuild) and while they were driving their project car, they got pulled over by a cop in a WRX!

And I think Australia has some.

Probably more.

Australia has used V5/6 STis as interceptors, and I believe England has used them as well. Possibly others in europe as well, specifically france and germany.

Edit: Dean has much newer info than me. The ones I've seen are all GC8s.

No official WRX/STi patrol or interceptor units in the US that I know of. I know a CO State Trooper has an STi done up in all the livery, including lights, but it's privately registered. Used as a public relations type thing.

From wikipedia...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_Service_Package

# Colfax, Washington police uses a Subaru Outback sedan
# Kitsap County (Washington) Sheriff's Office uses an unmarked 2006 Subaru Legacy GT sedan for traffic enforcement.

Here is an article on the Kitsap one... http://blogs.edmunds.com/Straightline/1070

South Carolina wins:

The South Carolina State Police used three BMW M5s during the early to mid 1990s. These cars were gifted to South Carolina after BMW chose the state to host their first assembly plant in the U.S.

In unrelated news I saw a hayabusa at the atlantis 2 weeks ago.

In related news: Although I can't confirm the STI I can confirm an evolution.

Better Hiyabusa pictures. if you look closely, you can see the red and blue flashers in the front cowl. http://www.pbase.com/wingman26/oklahoma_highway_patrol

Oh, one more thing. It is the RPD with the evolution but I don't know if they are done with it yet. I did however see it painted but unmarked.

Hahaha! I just saw that! (Sorry, slow, boring day for me sitting on my ass watching the speed channel.)

Anyways, I looked on their website and that's how I figured out they were in CA.
