Thank again Dean.

I had Dean as my instructor too..... I think that explains the spot on the passengers seat..... Going off track isn't much fun.

Both Nat and Jeremy had minor offs involving more speed then previous laps and not enough braking resulting in slow speed wheel straight drives in the gravel.

Nothing as spectacular as your's Cody.

Jeremy also had a nice spin at the top of the hill after carrying too much speed through the left hander and the back end getting light at the crest with the wheel still turned. He forgot the "tap" part of "tap and turn".

I nearly went through a full bottle of Rota touch up paint after my off. And Cory got to dismount my tires to dig all the rocks out.

I got a slow roll in the dirt on top of water fall. Nothing too fancy. I'm getting my roll bars.

Can it be lift wait set and turn? I do not drive fast enough to have to tap. Is that gonna have a same effect?

Yes, but not there, on that course config in a high HP/weight car. And in general, you start off with the brake and work back to just a lift. Your spin clearly shows you did need it.

If we had been going left instead of right at the top of the hill, you might have made it without one, but probably not. That corner is tighter than the previous 2 even then.

You can left foot brake, if you already have that skill, but even that you need to play with to see if it actually accomplishes the desired affect. There are times that all it does is cause the already light front wheels to go into immediate understeer.

A lift only works well if you are just dumping enough speed to allow for a relatively large radius turn where your current speed would take you over 100% traction usage in the corner. It typically does not transfer enough weight to aid significantly to turn in with a sharper corner. You are often better off to carry more speed further, brake harder, turn harder and get back on the gas as soon as possible.

Effectively a lift is just throttle steering before/at turn in. A brake significantly transfers weight in comparison.

Alan and I were discussing the same corner today, he says that in in impreza he can do a lift and gas technique throut the turn, however I know what happens in a rear wheel drive car when you do that, Dean is right, he is very right. Only lift in a wide radius turn, tap on a tight or off camber turn.

Just because you can negotiate something with a lift does not mean that it is faster. Only segment times will really tell you, but if you can go faster longer, brake and get on the gas earlier it may well be faster than lifting. Lifting is most often used by "momentum" cars that cannot afford to give up any more MPH than they have to.

+1. If you've got enough horsepower to break the wheels loose on corner exit, then you're probably faster going deeper into the corner, braking harder, and using all that power to blast off out of the turn.

But if you find yourself stomping the throttle on the way out of the corner and having traction left over, you're probably faster if you brake earlier and smoother on the way in and try to carry as much speed as possible all the way through to the corner exit.
