Please drive my car on public roads at 100mph. I am sure you will handle any accidents.

The customer almost always drives the car and does so only if they feel comfortable with the situation. I don't hold a gun to anyone's head and make them do anything they don't feel comfortable doing. Take the hate somewhere else... I believe there is a whole thread split off for you to piss on all you want.

Thanks

The road used for the tunes in Reno was carefully chosen. It is a ways north of Reno and located in a desolate area. There is virtually no traffic and the road is strait, smooth, long and very wide. There is an open field to one side and big empty werehouses on the other. About as safe as you can get for a road tune. Also, The road is patrolled by Reno Police. The officer was there on the day of my tune and stopped to talk with us while there was about 5 Subies parked side by side. He knew we were tuning and was making sure we were being safe. He didnt directly watch any "pulls" but was likely watching from afar. He was very cool and gave us Zero hassle because he knew we werent racing each other, there was no alcohol, loud music or any distractions. We were tuning responsibly.

I would much rather have a road tune where I am driving my own car than having it strapped on a dyno. The whole Road Tune experience is a great learning process on many levels. I have heard of cars getting sideways on a dyno, so how much safer is that ? Eds road tuned how many hundreds of cars ? How many accidents ? Not even a single ticket tuning... HMMM Sounds as safe as any other sport to me....

Dont worry SonicSubby the public is safe with ED on the streets !!

This has been discussed ad nauseum, and bringing it up in the Vendor forum isn't the right place to rehash this, so I moved these posts...

Tuning "responsibly" shouldn't include needing "a cool cop" that's letting you get away with it. Especially when there's a race track in Fernely that charges less for a day of test-and-tune than one hour on a dyno costs.

And a big for "I have heard of cars getting sideways on a dyno, so how much safer is that ?" You've "heard" of it, huh? Was it a 1200 hp Camaro or something? Being tuned without being properly strapped down, perhaps? If you really think having your car tuned on a dyno is just as unsafe as driving 100mph on a street, you're an idiot.

Ask Ed about how safe the streets are: http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108284

Or ask these dead folks: http://www.seccs.org/forums/showthread.php?t=6434

Yep, sitting in a waiting room while your car is being tuned sure is as dangerous as hauling ass on the street!

Now, I'm not trying to attack Ed's business. But anyone that's been on this forum for a while knows SECCS's stance on jackassery on the street. This sort of tuning is barely better than street racing IMO. Take it to the track, or rent a dyno for a day. At the very least, keep your mouth shut about it, because taking SonicSuby's bait on this stuff and re-opening the can of worms is just going to get any and all threads about this stuff locked and deleted.

Just so I have this right. The main complaint about doing this on a road is because of the danger to other cars and pedestrians correct?

And it's illegal to exceed posted speed limits. As a club we try to promote legal activities. We don't need cops hassling the meets because a member posts on the message board about breaking the law and whatnot.

I'm mostly concerned for the poor coroner's workers that have to work overtime hours during the holidays when they should be at home with their families.

SOOO... if you can find a private road with no posted speed limit, have the seccs rifle team kill all the small animals in the area first, wear a helmet, make sure no other cars occupy the road, and slap a NEWERA sticker on the side of the car... then it would be OK?

It's really no big deal. I don't get under 100 on my morning commute. AND that's in the Taurus.

There is a road outside of Gerlach with no posted speed limit. There is a sign at the beginning that states, unpatrolled abandoned road - enter at your own risk.

Therefore, there is no speed limit.

That is the sign. The sign is telling you that the road is not civic property therefore not subject to public road usage law.
