Default Burninating teh Rim!

Looks like the area where Rim of the World Rally is run is going up in flames. The fires in Socal are horrible. I spoke to my friend in Chino Hills today, and he said the smoke is so unbearable that no one is even leaving their houses! I hate fires, we were very fortunate to have no big fires this summer.

Yea, those fires are really starting to suck! Has anyone been seriously injured or killed yet due to them?

We did get realy lucky this summer. Good luck California

Yeah, looks like 13 people are dead in the San Diego Fires, and about 1600 homes all over...looks like arson is to blame for a lot of this too.

Yeah, it's pretty sick. When a big wildfire gets going the arsonists come out of the woodwork and make it worse.

Last I read 16 people have died and 1600 homes have burned. Yet another sign of the pending appocalypse.

check out this thread from the wrc.com forums. One of the co-organizers posts and says that Palmdale/Lancaster is safe (at the moment).

I really hope everyone is alright. I know lots of people (I went to school in Santa Barbara) that are either in danger, or their immediate family have homes that are in danger. At the very least, the whole of southern california is coverd in ash due to wind. One good friend of mine, has already had to abandon his apartment in San Diego.

Ah, we only rag on Reno and Nevada in good fun

But in all seriousness, most of my friends are recent college graduates (aka too poor to live in the hills) and are surrounded by miles of concrete. Safe, unless all hell breaks loose and the city itself starts catching on fire.

Reno did the fire thing 2 years ago. That was the summer I moved here. I had to go to a doctor for medication my asthma got so bad. Plus there was ash falling from the sky and constant smoke overcast... pretty much the same deal as LA / SD, but on a little smaller scale.

Then there was the Oakland Hills fire. On of Austins and my friends lost his house in that. Best Xmas card evAr: A picture of our friend Glen and his sister standing in the smoldering wreckage with the caption: "From our house to yours, Merry Christmas"

As far as the current fires, hopefully the wind/humidity will shift like they're predicting and the firefighters will be able to set some good backfires to stall the main front's advance. Then they can just let it burn out w/o threatening anymore homes and lives.

I'd like to see the regional movement reports after the fire season is over.

I think seeing the horrible prevention and expensive apartments and houses in trouble. They might go ahead and leave the Terminator state for something a little less hectic. California seems to be getting more expensive and less safe as the months go bye. With the new gov, I really hate to see what kind of crazy changes they will have to make to the budget to get through the year.

edit:
and whats the deal, they think a lot of these fires are Arson. Why don't all the news stations blame terrorism. I mean wouldn't starting fire be a great terrorism plan. Much easier to start a fire than hijack a jet-liner. I really think someone could be attacking us with fire.
