Default 15" Rims on WRX

I am about to sell my outback and am wondering if the second set of Rims I have with my snow tires will fit on a WRX? Will it clear the brakes? Will it make the WRX run like garbabe?

I believe they are the stock 205/70/15 Happakkaaaa(sp) tires.

If not, I'll have to sell them or include them in the sale of the car as a perk.

Thanks

Maybe I was mistaken, but I swore someone was running 15" Rota's on there car for a autocross. Hmmm...not sure though.

I don't believe there are any stock 15" Subaru rims that will fit over the WRX rotors.

I do believe the Rota Slipstreams in 15" will fit... I think those are the one's that Art's thinking of. You could potentially keep the tires and get a set of slipstreams so you can run them on a WRX, but I doubt that's really worth it, since most people seem to want 17" rims for their WRX, leaving the stock 16's as a great set of snow rims.

They make 15" slipstreams? Since when? I highly doubt that.

They do make them....but I have only seen them in 4x100 bolt pattern.

I think Steve (Kostamojen) has some 15x7.5" Slipstreams w/ 225 width Kuhmo MX's on his 1.8L that he used to hand all of us our asses ('cept me ) at one of the Stead autocrosses.

No, Steve has 16s. I've never seen Slipstreams in 15s on a WRX, I HIGHLY doubt they would fit. Look at how close the 16s are.

I thought the whole point of the slipstreams was that you *could* put 15's on a WRX... I thought they were pretty much the only 15" rims that would fit, outside of dedicated rally rims.

Nah, the slipstreams were basically a custom hack so that guys could run wider, lighter 16's for autoX. Even the Rotas are meant primarily for Honda applications. they're a copy of a Spoon SW388, which is a rebranded rim from some other wheelmaker in Japan. I've seen them on Nissans, too, but they're primarily Honda offsets/patterns. I can tell you right now that pretty much the only 15's that'll fit over stock WRX brakes are some of the rally-spec compomotives with really offset spokes and centers specifically designed for more clearance. My wagon's got RS brakes on it, which use smaller rotors than the WRX does, and I had no more than ~1/8th clearance between the caliper and wheel with my stock 15's......

15" Slipstreams might fit on RS's, though.

Also, it's worth noting that even if your OB 15's will clear the brakes, the tires will be too tall, and will rub on the rear spring perches.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll use the stock rims for my snow tires.

15's that will clear the stock WRX brakes (and 4-pot Subaru gravel calipers) include Speedline 14-spoke competition alloys, Compomotive TH-2's and TH-3's, and Raceline RL-7's.
