Default WTB/B: '02 WRX front Oxygen Sensor

Looks like I've got a fouled front O2 sensor on my WRX (ECU sees intermittent data coming from it... works for a minute or two, then sticks reading at 14.7 while the wideband shows the car go rich), and the generic Bosch replacement I picked up from Kragen throws a P0031 code.

Does anyone have a OEM O2 sensor I can borrow/buy to try to get my stock ECU up and running for smog? I don't need the sensor normally because the Hydra only runs the wideband (which is why my OEM sensor fouled... it was in the headers w/o being powered), but in order to pass smog I need to tune my stock ECU for blow-thru MAF use, and I need at least the front 02 sensor working for closed loop to keep the AFRs stoich.

I have an '04 STI one or two lying around.

Also, can you program the output from your wide band to emulate narrow? The LC-1 lets you.

Actually, I just tried that at lunch. I'm starting to think my issue is not the O2 sensor, since I was briefly able to get the narrowband O2 sensor to read 25:1 from the LC-1's simulated output, then it went back to 14.7:1 and stuck there... I may have a bad connector somewhere. Ugh.

It would still be nice to try a known working O2 sensor though and see if I have the same issues.

Contact cleaner at the ECU might be in order. And check for a pushed out/bent pin if you have been plugging and unplugging those to switch ECUs.

I have a known good one from '04 just sitting on a box in the garage the other '07 is in the exhaust manifold for the STI sitting on the floor. You are welcome to borrow one.

Cool man, thanks for the offer! I've got a pipe wrench and some vice-grips, so I should be able to yank it out of whatever it's stuck in, but I'm going to give the LC-1 simulation mode one more chance after double checking all my plugs, as that would be the ideal way to run the stock ECU.

I'll PM you if I need to take you up on that sensor!

Those only help if you haven't already rounded the sensor off like GusGus did apparently. Since my car is apart so frequently, I don't think there's a single frozen bolt anywhere on the car... last night when I swapped out my O2 sensor, it was a cinch w/ a plain old open-ended wrench.
