Default Tires and Class in AutoX

Is there a place where I can find out who is running what tires on the national level for perspective classes? Such as ESP.

Considering that at that level people don't want to give away their secrets, probably not. Either go to an event and see for yourself, or look up old event results and see what people ran in the past.

Well, I here people say everynow and then something like this, "RE01-R's are the tire of choice in . . . ."

I was wondering where they get this information. Or is it just people blowing smoke and speaking about what the do not know?

You have to list your tires when you sign up for a National Tour event as I understand it.

I think they only list the brand but not the actual tire.

For this data, its usually just word of mouth spreading from actual National level drivers which will eventually trickle down.

Just a note. If you still have your STI, you would not be in ESP. You looking to pick something else up?

I guess what I am getting at is this, if I am going to run ESP with a certain rear wheel drive car. What would be the best tire to get so that I could run them everyday and race them?

I am thinking of RT-615's, RE01-R's, Kuhmo MX's . etc. etc.

At this point it would seem that my car is going to be sold to someone else in the club. Not yet though, still working on it.

Mustangs like Goodyear Traction T/As. ESP winners (who will not be driving pony cars) will be on RT615s or RE01Rs. RE01Rs are about $300 more per set in Mustang sizes, so I think your decision is down to RT615s or Hankook RS2s.

And don't forget that you won't be abe to run those on teh street after October...

Pulling up national level results from ESP seems like the class is dominated by Hoosier and Kumho. Does that help?

Street Touring classes are using Falken, Hankook and Yokohama.

You only have to list the tire brand if you'd like the manufacturer to consider you for contingency money.

Which is why so many people run Yoks. Bridgestone doesn't pay nearly as much apparently.
