I'm not kidding. I recorded 30 minutes extra only because the weather was supposed to be clear. I never thought I'd need to record and extra two hours to account for the track falling apart.

I missed Bristol live and on replays. Found a torrent for the Sprint race, but nothing for the nationwide or truck races.

Any ideas? Nothing on yidio or anywhere else obvious.

The only really good part of the N'Wide race at Bristol is Joey getting dumped on the last lap and getting all pissy.. Oh, and there's a surprise winner...so it's a good finish.

If you haven't already, check out RaceBuddy!

The only thing it is missing at least pre-race is the actual TV feed/audio.

Wish I could get TNT and Speed streamed in 720p or just letterbox 480p.

Do you like "pairs" racing at Telladega and Daytona?

I do.

I like the teammate aspect of it. But the actual racing isn't all that awesome. Right now I'm watching the 'dega replay on espn 2 and I'm bored.

I think it is far better than freight train racing which until recently was the alternative at restrictor plate tracks.

RPs are really the problem. Without any initimate knowledge of the cars, i think giving them back the HP and taking away aero would force them to GAS-BRAKE-TURN-REPEAT (shift optional).

No splitter/spoiler or some change in them might well be a far better solution than restricting the intake.

Well, the big reason they went to the restrictor plates was because the cars were going so fast, they'd flip into the stands in a wreck.

So the question is, with all the current gen aero and roof flaps and the like, are the cars safe enough at 230mph to spin around backwards and stay on the ground? Or more likely, are they safe enough at 250mph, which is probably the speeds we'd see with the current power and aero tech... they were hitting 230 in the 80's afterall... today they'll be much faster.

Frankly, the "right" answer is to have them run unrestricted 2.0L 4 bangers or something. Then they'll have the responsiveness of a non-restrictor plate motor but with no horsepower. It would sound like a swarm of angry bees.

In yesterday's race, Regan Smith hit the wall in a very similar fashion to that of the wreck that killed Dale Sr., if not a harder direct hit. I've never seen SAFER walls move that much. I was worried for him when I saw the impact. Sure enough, he walked away, just sore. I'm continually impressed by the safety of the cars and tracks.

You know I'm watching...Homestead is one of the last true ovals in the series and always a great race, nevermind the awesome championship battle!

Man, my DVR was set to record extra time but I still missed the end of the race. Then when I switched over to live TV the race was over. I had to back up to see the last few laps. Seems like a pretty exciting way to wrap up a championship.

Congrats to Stewart. He's one of the few guys I like in NASCAR. Good to see him win for his own team.

I'm all set for F1 and Sonoma. The Rolex race I'd record if I thought I'd get around to watching it, but I didn't even watch Le Mans this year, so why bother?

Great post on Trickle.

http://joeposnanski.blogspot.com/201...k-trickle.html

Quote:
Larry said Dick Trickle would stay out all night, drink everyone under the table, tell the best stories, lie the best lies, then limp back to the room -- he limped from childhood injury -- take a quick shower, grab his pack of cigarettes (he would go through a pack or two every race) and without a wink of sleep go out and win the race like it was nothing. Then he would get out the car, find an Old Style beer, down it in about three seconds and start the process all over again. “I’ve seen him do it,” Larry told me. “Man wasn’t human.”

There is a great video on line of Dick Trickle smoking in his race car during a race. The guy was a bad-ass. Pretty sad way to go out.
