Wish in one hand and sh*t in the other...
Thumbs up BC Racing Coilovers - killer value.

BC Racing Coilovers are arguably the best coilovers available for the money.
http://www.bcracing-na.com/

Available for most import cars and a few domestics too.

There have been thousands of these sets sold now. Check out the 50+ page review thread on NASIOC.

BR Series:
The BR model is perfect for street driving and occasional road course duty. With easily accessible adjustment knobs for fine tuning your compression/rebound and separately adjustable ride height, having a performance coilover system couldn’t be any easier. You choose how low or high you want your vehicle, no preset ride height here, and the patented concave lower locking ring keeps it locked in. All of these systems come with pillowball mounts to provide the most feedback possible from your suspension and to sharpen your steering response. BC’s available front and rear camber plates also allow you to get the perfect alignment setup without compromise. All this while providing a strong, attractive looking coilover system.
  • Mono-tube shock design.
  • 30 levels of damping force adjustment, adjust compression/rebound (not independently).
  • Pillowball mounts and adjustable camber plates included (where applicable).
  • Adjustable rear camber plates available.
  • Separate full length height adjustable.
  • One year warranty.
  • Rebuildable.
  • Optional Rear Extenders so you don't have to remove the back seat to adjust.
  • Minimum advertisable price = $1000, KS price = $1000 including tax!

RAM Type (Inverted):
BC Racings inverted RAM model includes all of the great BR features and then takes it a notch higher. By using an inverted coilover system we move the vital damper fluid away from the detrimental heat sources to avoid overheating the fluid and causing damper fatigue under extreme conditions. The inverted setup also handles high-g loads better and is much more durable under stress situations, such as a race track. Another advantage is reducing unsprung weight by moving the heavy parts to the chassis mounting points. This is a great coilover for those looking to attack a race track, hill climb or tarmac rally.
  • Inverted Mono-tube shock design.
  • 30 levels of damping force adjustment, adjust compression/rebound.
  • Pillowball mounts and adjustable camber plates included (where applicable).
  • Adjustable rear camber plates available.
  • Separate full length height adjustable.
  • One year warranty.
  • Rebuildable.
  • Minimum advertisable price = $1150, KS price = $1150 including tax!

ER Series:
BCracing's newest and most advanced model yet is the ER series coilover. It features large external reservoirs front and rear, separate rebound and compression adjustment and a twin piston design. The external reservoirs hold much more oil than the conventional coilover, allowing the coilover to operate for a much longer period of time before overheating. The external reservoirs also house the secondary piston, which allows for the fine tuning of compression. This is the perfect coilover system for the person who wants to fine tune there setup using the separate, 30-way, rebound and compression tuning dials.
  • External Reservoir Mono-tube shock design.
  • 30 levels of damping force adjustment, adjusts both compression and rebound separately.
  • Twin piston design.
  • Pillowball mounts and adjustable camber plates included (where applicable).
  • Adjustable rear camber plates available.
  • Separate full length height adjustable.
  • One year warranty.
  • Rebuildable.
  • Minimum advertisable price = $1850, KS price = $1850 including tax!

I hear lots of good reviews about these from RS25 and such. They seem to be pretty high quality for street use. Do you know of anybody running a serious autocross or track car on these? I'm curious about just how well the damping matches the spring rates for their Subaru applications.

I do not know anybody personally who is running these yet. I was going to get a set of BR's for my street car. Lots of people raving about these, especially the price of course. Whether they know what they are talking about, I dunno. If somebody with autocross/track cred. wants to try these out I can get them to them for cost.

The BR's for 02-07 WRX/STI come with 8k/6k springs normally, but it is easy to get them with 7k/5k, 10k/8k, or 12k/10k.

I was mistaken. Ray has the BR's on his street car (07 WRX with many mods). He says they are high quality and great for the money, but would like to have independent adjustment for compression and rebound. The ER's have this.

Talked to Ray about these some more. Ray knows what he's talking about - lots of track experience, etc. in his track-only 05 STI (TTA). He also has an 07 WRX that has the BR Series on there along with big brakes, sways, end links, 18" wheels, etc. The coilovers have been on the car for about 2 years with no problems. Several track days per year also. The quality of the parts is really good. The range of adjustability is good. He thinks for a street car that sees some track and autocross days the BR Series are perfect, especially for the money. For a track-only car he would go for the ER Series to get the higher spring rates and independent adjustability on compression/rebound.

These come with a 1-year warranty. After that it is $95 for a replacement.

Have sold a couple sets of BR so far.

Is there a way to get some custom lengths made to fit the SVX?

(Yeah right... but I figured I'd ask. And Kevin, I don't wanna hear about Legacys in here either. )

Foresters on coilovers are way cooler than Legacies on coilovers.

Bumping this old ass thread because...

Any input on the auto-x, track, and daily driving characteristics of these coils? I'm starting to get really tempted on going for coils rather than a spring/strut set up.

I know they won't be the best, but if they're comfortable-ish, quiet-ish, and reliable for auto-x and daily driving, it might be worthwhile to be able to tune my ride height over a static spring/strut drop.

Talked to Kevin today about these today. Wondering if you still can match importimages price of $1,000 out the door, shipped and on my door step. I need a set of these for the STI. Figured I'd ask and support the local shop instead of the big internet guy!

Thanks.

Still $1000 including tax for the BR series. I can have them shipped directly to you too.

About a week. That can be expedited via 2-day if needed.
